Teeth whitening is one of the most popular cosmetic treatments, and one of the most misunderstood. Here are the most common myths we hear at Paradise.
Myth 1: Whitening damages your enamel
Professional whitening, used correctly under dental supervision, does not damage enamel. Temporary sensitivity is possible but settles quickly.
Myth 2: Charcoal toothpaste whitens teeth
Charcoal is abrasive and can actually wear enamel over time, making teeth look more yellow. It is not a substitute for professional whitening.
Myth 3: Results are permanent
Whitening lasts 1–3 years depending on diet and habits. Occasional touch-ups keep your smile bright.
Myth 4: Lemon and baking soda are safe DIY whiteners
Acidic DIY remedies can erode enamel. Please avoid them.
Myth 5: Whitening works on crowns and veneers
It only works on natural teeth. We plan carefully if you have existing restorations.
Myth 6: Everyone gets the same result
Results depend on the type of staining. We'll set realistic expectations during your consultation.
Myth 7: Salon whitening is the same as dental whitening
Dentist-supervised whitening uses professional-grade gel with gum protection, it's safer and more effective.
